Hello

IM CAROLYN

I have always been fascinated by human behavior and what makes us “tick.” After spending many years working in the nonprofit sector, I decided to further my impact in the health and human services field by becoming a professional counselor.

Compassion, openness, and warmth are the foundations of my practice, and I thrive on working with individuals and couples who wish to live their lives more fully.

I utilize a blend of modalities, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to both support and challenge my clients in a way that is congruent with their values and goals. I recognize that we are all a collection of our life experiences, and I work with all clients from a curious, trauma-informed lens.

I work well with individual clients who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use issues, infertility, relationship concerns, and general life transitions. My specialties in couples’ work include family-building challenges, substance use, and overall communication challenges. I have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I work best with clients who are motivated and engaged, and I believe that client involvement in therapeutic planning will lead to more successful outcomes.

I received my Bachelor’s degree from Emory University in 2006. Following my work in the nonprofit sector, I went on to receive my Master’s in Science from Georgia State University, where I graduated from the Clinical Rehabilitation Program. I am credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC).

During my training, I spent significant time working with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community at Positive Impact Health Centers in Decatur, Georgia, where I supported clients in navigating relationship concerns, as well as those affected by HIV/AIDS.
